More Fun With Chalkboard Paint

I just have to say,
I LOVE CHALKBOARD PAINT!
Having given birth to three budding little artists, it's a god-send.
I'm considering painting whole walls with it in their bedrooms
in an attempt to contain the doodles.

And what's better than furniture that you're allowed to draw on?

Here's a coffee table and side table that I recently aquired, perfect for providing opportunities for artistic expression....

The drop leaf coffee table is painted in ASCP Pure White,
and waxed with clear and dark wax and slightly distressed.

The drop leaf side table is painted in ASCP Duck Egg Blue,
with clear and dark wax, and slight distressing.

Retro Buffet in Graphite and French Linen Wash

Here's a quick "Before & After" before I make dinner...

Cute little retro buffet by Stanley Furniture...
Laminate top... blah.

(sorry, I didn't crop out the mess... :)

Decided to go for the grey washed wood look on the doors and drawers...
And Graphite everywhere else...

I love the color of the grey wash over the wood with dark wax.
Totally reminds me of rusty metal. :)

I think it gives it a nice industrial mid century modern look. :):):)

SOLD

Have a fantastic day!

Dresser in Graphite and Wood

I came upon this dresser at a storage unit sale in Rigby.
The woman said the unit it had been stored in, leaked,
causing major water damage and warping on top of the dresser.
The one "before" photo I have, doesn't show the full extent of the damage...

The top was wavy and falling apart,
But amazingly, the rest was in terrific condition.

So with lots of Mark's help on this one,
we were able to give it new life...

We wanted to reuse the wood from the original top,
so with the help of a joiner, and a planer, Mark got it back together.
It's not perfect, there are some scars hinting at it's former life...
but it's looking pretty darn good, if I do say so.

I painted the bulk of it in Annie Sloan's "Graphite."
When I sanded the front panels, they were just too gorgeous to cover up,
so I just sealed them and let them be...

Have a wonderful and peaceful day!

Post WildHare FleaMarket....

Wow! Talk about a WILD time at the WildHare FleaMarket!
I had such a good time...
Lots of people are asking me if it was worth it...
YES!!!
Not only was I able to sell gobs of stuff,
but the best part was meeting all the awesome people that make it happen...

Just to name a few.....
Fellow curly haired Linda Davies, the spunky WildHare owner, is certainly a kindred spirit...
She's just AWESOME!

I was finally able to meet Jen Wilhelm of Lively Grace who I feel I've been friends with forever through our blogs and facebook. Her booth has always been my favorite when I've attended the WildHare in the past and this time was no exception.

I thoroughly enjoyed my visits with my booth neighbors, Florence and Carla, who were the nicest ladies EVER.

I had a fine time learning from Bud Cornilson and his wife Tammy.
That guy knows furniture!

And it was so much fun visiting with Michelle Orgill and Hailey Lusk.
Michelle has a space in the "Old Town Mercantile & Antiques" in Pocatello, and is quite positively one of the more creative people on the planet... And Hailey is just a kick in the pants, not to mention talented! She lives way out in Rockland... (where IS that?):)  I bought a giant hutch from her at the end of the day, and she gave me a screaming deal! Can't wait to paint it! :)

Of course, I owe a huge thanks to my OHTF, Mark... his dad, who entertained our critters, and my dad, for helping haul the junk. Couldn't have done it without them!

Finally, on to the pictures.... which, unfortunately, are only of my booth. LAME.
I'm totally kicking myself for not going around and taking photos of everyone and their booths.
Dang it!

Morning, Day 1

End of Day 1

Day 2

And that's it!
Sorry about the photos, as you can tell, I still have a lot to learn about photography...
To those who came, THANK YOU!
I hope you had as much fun as I did!
Have an awesome day!

Updated Jewelry Box

When Jamie came to pick up the grey dresser and nightstand,
she brought me this big jewelry box stand.

She said her husband had given it to her when she was 17,
so she was quite attached to it...
Just not crazy about the color of the wood anymore...
Ed ora, ecco, ASCP.... :)

Again, I used my favorite, Pure White with clear and dark wax.

I spray painted the pulls with oil-rubbed bronze.

And I must say, I love it. I'm on the hunt now to find one for myself...
Although, I'm sure mine would eventually be filled with crayons and legos...
random game pieces and matchbox cars...
etc, etc, etc.... :)

Hope you have some fun today!

The Legless Buffet

When I came across this buffet my heart skipped a beat.
It was the only piece in a local antique mall that I could begin to afford...
and it was priced WAY too high for it's condition.
I tried walking away a few times,
but I just couldn't leave it there.
I really wanted to see this thing transformed!
You can see the veneer was in very poor condition...
The doors were missing, and the legs at some point had been cut off.
But still...
Can't you see the possibilities?
So Mark took his monster 12" planer to it and the veneer was a goner.
I painted it with ASCP in "pure white" and used clear and dark wax.
Stained the top, and drawer embellishments, added a wood embellishment of my own,
and some new pulls....

And the transformation is complete!

I think this one is a keeper!
I'd love to hear your thoughts!
Make it a wonderful day!

Modern Vintage Makeover

I bought this dresser set a while back, and could NOT decide what to do with it. It was in incredible shape, absolutely nothing wrong with it, dove tailed connections and everything... It had SO many possibilities! And there it sat. :)

Until Jamie called me... she wanted it for her sons room and she wanted it GREY.

Brilliant. Of course! GREY!

She only wanted the tall dresser and the nightstand.
Her plan is to add some orange pulls and put it in her sons room.

I think it's going to look so stinking cool!

So I departed the text a bit with the remaining dresser... I liked the GREY theory,
but I wanted to bring in a little WOOD as well.
(My two favorite colors! )

I'm loving how it turned out. Very striking.

Very vintage... and  modern...

Don't know if Mark will let me sell this one... He digs it.
Have a great day!!
